West Ham United are keen on signing Chelsea’s French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent transfer in the next window.
According to RMC Sport, as cited by Il Milanista, the Hammers have joined AC Milan in having an interest in signing the midfielder from the Blues.
However, it is understood that David Moyes’ outfit would like to sign the Frenchman on a permanent transfer from Stamford Bridge as opposed to a loan deal.
It is stated, too, that while the Milan club may not be able to meet the player’s demands, the Irons may be in a better position to do so.
The report also reveals that the midfielder will not be staying with the club that he is currently on loan at, AS Monaco.
The 25-year-old has two seasons remaining on his contract with Frank Lampard’s outfit following the conclusion of this term and has a market value of £22.95 million (per Transfermarkt).

Compared to one of the defensive midfielders that David Moyes already has at the club, however, Bakayoko’s statistics do not look as impressive.
In the league this season, Declan Rice has made 3.0 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per game on average (per WhoScored), whereas the Frenchman has made 2.4 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game (per WhoScored).
So, while the 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder’s stats are by no means poor, it would seem that the Hammers already have a better player within their ranks.
