The Athletic reporter Roshane Thomas has been heaping praise on West Ham United’s English winger Jarrod Bowen.

Since his arrival at the London Stadium, the former Hull City attacker has made just four Premier League appearances and has already managed to net one goal (per WhoScored).

To secure his signing on the January transfer window deadline day earlier this year, David Moyes’ outfit forked out £22 million to secure his switch from the KCOM Stadium (per The Guardian).

So, on the latest episode of the Athletic’s U Irons podcast, Thomas made it clear that the 23-year-old Englishman has impressed him since his arrival.

He said: “You know, I like Jarrod Bowen a lot. In the game against Southampton where he made his full debut, his work rate was amazing that day. He ran after everything and he also scored in that match.

“Also, he’s taken Robert Snodgrass’ place in the team and he’s had a great season. A lot of fans feel like in some ways he’s [Snodgrass] been our Hammer of the Year.

“Now, I’m not saying that Bowen is going to save the day. But, if you’re thinking of someone who can offer the team something a bit different and do something a bit unusual, then I can’t see why Bowen can’t be that guy.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in the comments from the Athletic journalist, it seems that Thomas believes that Bowen could make all the difference in West Ham’s nine remaining league matches.

That could be backed up by Bowen’s statistics, too, as in just two starts and two substitute appearances, the English winger has been the Irons’ fifth-best performer in the league with a 6.83/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

Could Jarrod Bowen be the difference between staying up and relegation?

Over the four games, he also averaged the second-most shots per game in the entire squad over the season with 2.0, which could suggest that he is a handful in front of goal.

So, it will certainly be interesting to see how Bowen can build on his impressive start at the London Stadium over the remainder of the season.
