Everton are lining up a swoop to attempt to sign Paris Saint-Germain full-back Layvin Kurzawa on a free transfer when his contract expires.
According to Le 10 Sport, the Toffees are keeping their eyes on the French defender’s situation in Paris with the view of making a swoop.
Reportedly, the fact that the 27-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month (per Transfermarkt) makes the ‘market opportunity’ appeal to Carlo Ancelotti.
The Toffees’ rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have also been recently linked with signing the French full-back, with Ancelotti’s previous PSG ties potentially giving him a leg-up on their Premier League counterparts.
PSG do not intend to extend the Frenchman’s contract any further, so it seems highly likely that he will be available on a free transfer.
As stated by Le 10 Sport, Kurzawa is the second player set to be released by the Parisian club that Ancelotti has his eyes on, as he also has an interest in Thiago Silva.

First and foremost, it seems strange that the Toffees would attempt to sign Kurzawa due to the fact that they already have Lucas Digne on a contract until 2023 (per Transfermarkt) and a one-year extension has been offered to Leighton Baines (per The Guardian).
So, it would seem like a waste of wages for Ancelotti to have three left-backs capable of starting in his first-team squad.
Furthermore, it would seem that the Toffees already have the most capable option of the three at the club in the form of the French full-back Digne.

This season, Digne earned the highest average rating in the league of the three players with an impressive 7.12/10 in the Premier League (per WhoScored).
Kurzawa, however, earned the same rating in Ligue 1 as Baines has in the Premier League, with both players earning a respectable 6.78/10 rating.
So, it seems that it may not be worth the effort to bring the 27-year-old defender to Merseyside as he does not add anything that the club does not already have.
