Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported news on Newcastle United loanee Danny Rose and his future with the Lilywhites.
According to Football Insider (via Hotspur Related), the North London club are willing to sell the left-back this summer for a reduced £5million fee. The 29-year-old joined Newcastle on loan in the January transfer window after a reported falling out with Jose Mourinho, so it is perhaps no surprise to hear that the Portuguese manager is keen to move him on this summer.
However, the former England international has previously suggested that he would see out his contract with Spurs, which is set to run until summer 2021, before leaving the club on a free transfer, so the Lilywhites could struggle to sell him for a fee this summer.
Is £5 million for Danny Rose a good deal?
Yes
No
In his time with the North London club, Rose has accumulated 214 appearances for the Lilywhites; contributing 10 goals and 29 assists (per Transfermarkt). The report from Football Insider suggests that Spurs once valued the left-back at around £50million, so it will be interesting to see if any other sides match Spurs’ reported asking price of £5million this summer.

Typical. Buy nothing, sell low. Spurs’ air-tight approach.

Looks like a sad end to a Spurs career for a player who was just about the best LB in the league back when he played on the opposite flank to Walker

Some Spurs fans feel that the reduced price is just a way of trying to get Rose off the wage bill.
I think we should be looking at £10m that’s a fair price. £5m means we just need him off the wage bill

Other Spurs fans suggested that they want to see Rose leave the club by whatever means necessary.

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans want to see Rose leave this summer, and considering the 29-year-old is currently valued at £14.4million by Transfermarkt, if he leaves the club for £5million, then the side who buys him would arguably be getting a very good deal.
