Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported news on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which suggests that the North London club are poised to make an offer for the Southampton captain.

According to the Daily Star (via Ricky Sacks), the Lilywhites are poised to make an opening offer for the Danish international, after he was given the green light to leave by the club. The 24-year-old is out of contract with the Saints at the end of next season and it has been recently stated that he could be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in, according to Saints CEO Martin Semmens. However, Spurs could face competition from Everton for his signature.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

Spurs have regularly been linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich midfielder since January and it seems as if he could be joining up with Jose Mourinho’s side this summer, should the two clubs agree on a fee for the £10.8 million-rated man. So far this season, Hojbjerg has made 28 appearances in the top flight for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, averaging a solid 6.82/10 match rating for his performances (per WhoScored).

Do you think Spurs will sign Hojbjerg this summer?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Hojbjerg can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan suggested that the Danish midfielder would be a better option than both Eric Dier and Harry Winks, which is backed up by their average ratings compared to the Southampton midfielder. So far this season, Dier has averaged a disappointing 6.63 rating for his performances in the Premier League, whilst Winks has an even poorer rating of 6.52 – suggesting that Hojbjerg could well displace both as a defensive-minded midfielder in Mourinho’s side if he is to join this summer.

One fan suggested that Spurs should offer the Saints Kyle Walker-Peters as part of the deal, which is perhaps unsurprising, considering he joined Hasenhuttl’s side on loan in January and looks surplus to requirements at the North London club.

Others simply suggested that he would be a good signing for the Lilywhites.

Overall, it seems as if a lot of Spurs fans would like to see their club sign Hojbjerg this summer.
