On a recent episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Jamie Brown and Chris Cowlin discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham, including a discussion of Tanguy Ndombele and how they hope to see the Frenchman perform when the Premier League returns.

Spurs signed the 23-year-old for a club-record fee last summer, but he has struggled to adapt to the Premier League in his first season with the Lilywhites, with injury and fitness issues regularly proving a problem in the first part of the campaign. However, now we have nearly completed the enforced break, fans will no doubt be hoping to see him impress in the remaining fixtures.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Sacks shared his opinion on the former Lyon man, saying:

“We’ve known during this enforced break that Mourinho and his coaching staff, they’ve been delighted by his application in recent months. And to be fair, looking at him, he looks a lot leaner, sharper and brighter in the footage from that training game. Again, it’s hard, because we’re only seeing six, seven minutes of a game which obviously was 90 [minutes].

“[A] lovely finish from Ndombele and there will be big high hopes for him now ahead of this Manchester United game.”

TIF Thoughts…

Sacks appeared to be referencing the footage from the training game which saw Mourinho set up two sides for an in-house friendly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Ndombele skipping past a couple of defenders and firing past Hugo Lloris to score (per Tottenham Hotspur 4:02).

Do you think we will see the best of Ndombele in the remaining fixtures?

It will be interesting to see if Ndombele can improve on his current average rating of just 6.76/10 (as per WhoScored) in the Premier League when the top flight resumes later this week.
