On a recent episode of the LastWordOnSpurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Jamie Brown from Daily Hotspur and Chris Cowlin discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham, including a discussion on whether or not Lucas Moura will be a regular in the remaining Premier League fixtures.

The quartet discussed a variety of topics on the episode titled ‘Mourinho’s Preparation‘, including their ideal starting line-ups for the upcoming fixture against Manchester United and the players they were excited to see back on the pitch. This included Lucas Moura, with Brown commenting on the Brazilian, saying:

“The guy that I’m actually quite excited to see come back is actually Lucas, I think he’s a guy that will be actually a surprise package under Mourinho.”

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

He goes on to add: “I think that he will be crucial in these nine games. I mean, it’s going to be about who’s the fittest, and I think that Lucas is a guy that has proved he is a fantastic athlete. I think Jose Mourinho’s spoken that he really likes him as a player and I think there have been reports that they both get on really well.”

TIF Thoughts…

It has indeed been reported that Mourinho and Moura get on well, with the former PSG man commenting that the Portuguese manager has provided him with the sort of moral support he has “never had since I arrived in Europe” (as per ESPN Brasil via Sport Witness). So far this season, the 27-year-old has struggled to consistently find his best form in the Premier League, having contributed just four goals and two assists in 27 appearances in the top flight, averaging a 6.89/10 rating (per WhoScored).

However, the winger has often been forced to play out of position due to the injury suffered by Harry Kane back in January, so perhaps we will see the Brazilian back at his best when the Premier League resumes later this week.
