Over the previous 28 fixtures in which Moss has officiated Spurs, the club have won 12, drawn seven and lost nine of the matches, with Moss dishing out 42 yellow cards and two straight red cards, as well as awarding nine penalty kicks, as per Transfermarkt.

In comparison, Moss has officiated Manchester United matches a total of 32 times, over which the club have won 21, drawn six and lost five of the fixtures, with Moss showing 51 yellow cards and one straight red card, as well as awarding seven penalties.

In total, over his 220 Premier League fixtures refereed, Moss has awarded a staggering 754 yellow cards and 32 red cards, according to the Premier League website.

In reaction to the appointment, which was relayed on Twitter by The Spurs Web, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their belief that the appointment means Manchester United are guaranteed a win.

Although a match official is obviously impartial – as it is the embodiment of the profession – it does appear that, from the two club’s records with Moss as referee, Manchester United seem to fare much better than Spurs when Moss is in charge.

Having said this, it is most likely simply a coincidence, as much as that United could have just played better than Spurs in their fixtures with Moss as the referee.
