Sheffield United fans have received a boost ahead of the Premier League’s restart with the announcement captain Billy Sharp and vice-captain Ollie Norwood have signed new contracts with the club (as per sufc.co.uk).

Sharp’s two-year deal will see him remain with the Blades until the summer of 2022. The player returned to Bramall Lane in July 2015 for his third spell with the club and since then he has scored 93 goals in 197 appearances in all competitions.

A local to the area, Sharp has been described by the club as a ‘popular Sheffielder’. So far this season, he has made 18 appearances in the top-flight, netting three times (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

TIF Thoughts…

Sheffield United are enjoying an impressive season back in the Premier League. Wilder’s side have already accumulated 43 points and are only five points off of the UEFA Champions League places.

They are in with a real chance of achieving qualification for one of UEFA’s competitions next season which would in our view, be a remarkable achievement given it is the club’s first season back in the top-flight since the 2006/07 season.

With the boost of two of their most ‘influential’ players now extending their contracts, we believe there is no reason why the Blades can’t push on further between now and the end of the campaign.
