Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Douglas spoke about other things, including the Toon’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup, but he spent a long time talking about the takeover, and this is what he had to say:

“This is ridiculous now. I can tell you that there’s been millions spent on this now.

“There are two PR agencies working for the consortium, there are PR agencies working and engaged for BeIN Sports and others involved in this takeover now.

“There’s so much money been spent on this, so much time and effort has been spent on this now.

“There needs to be, like Steve Bruce said, clarity. There needs to be at least a roadmap now towards a decision.”

It seems as if there have been huge amounts of money spent on this whole saga, and Douglas clearly just wants a decision to be made.

Do you agree with Douglas?

Yes, there has to be a decision for this soon

TIF Thoughts…

These are some interesting points (24:18) made by the reporter from The Chronicle, and it seems as if both the buyers and opposition to the takeover have spent a lot of money on this process.

The deal for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley was agreed in April with Ashley, and the group paid him a deposit.

However, since then, nothing has happened, and the Premier League have still not made a decision.

Steve Bruce spoke after Newcastle lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final and claimed that the Premier League needs to make a decision because the lack of clarity is not helping anyone.

We have to say we agree with Bruce, and hopefully, the Premier League finally reach a decision.
