Journalist Alan Nixon believes Brighton and Hove Albion will demand £40-50m if they are to sell Ben White to Leeds United this summer.

White has spent the season on loan at Elland Road and up until now, has played every single minute of the club’s Championship campaign (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) – highlighting his importance to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The 22-year-old still has two years to run on his Brighton contract and is due to return to the south coast when his loan expires at the end of this campaign. According to Nixon, who tweeted White’s supposed price tag in response to a question he received on Twitter, anybody who has been impressed by his performances this season will need to break the bank to sign him.

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

As well as being linked with a move to Leeds United on a permanent basis, White is also said to have attracted the interest of Liverpool (via Football Insider) with scouts from Anfield said to have been keeping a close eye on the defender throughout the season.

TIF Thoughts…

White has been one of Leeds United’s most consistent performers since the start of the season, with an average performance rating of 7.06/10 (via WhoScored.com). Given the figures quoted by Nixon, we could see Leeds miss out on the player.

Do you think there is any chance of White staying at Leeds beyond this summer?

Phil Hay of The Athletic recently reported that the player remains ‘right at the very top’ of the club’s list of transfer targets but ‘more through hope than optimism’.  We suspect that could be down to the price Brighton are rumoured to demand for White should they decide to sell him.
