Newcastle United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City on Sunday after Pep Guardiola’s side ran out 2-0 winners. Steve Bruce’s men fell behind after Fabian Schar’s error led to a penalty kick being awarded from which Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake (as per BBC Sport).
Raheem Sterling added a second after half time, shortly after Dwight Gayle spurned an excellent opportunity to draw his side level to seal the holders’ progress to the semi-final stage.
Many Toon fans took to social media following the game in order to comment on the performance of one player in particular – Danny Rose.
Danny Rose has probably been the most underwhelming signing, genuinely thought it was a class signing for us, he doesn’t care, is lazy, and defensively everywhere, can’t think of one good game he’s had #nufc

Spurs can keep Danny Rose #NUFC

I don’t understand starting Shelvey and Ritchie against Villa when top flight status is 99% secured. And then sending out second rate replacements as well as an unfit Danny Rose in our biggest cup match in 15 years, I’m stumped #NUFC

Danny Rose – useless again #NUFC

Were you disappointed by Danny Rose's latest showing?
Yes
No
There were some fans, however, who thought the Tottenham Hotspur loanee had a good game at the weekend, with many suggesting he has improved significantly since the restart.
Danny Rose is the only player who had a decent game for us #nufc

According to WhoScored.com, Danny Rose’s performance versus Manchester City earned him a rating of 6.09/10 – making him one of the team’s worst performers on the evening and that backs up those who were critical of his display. Steve Bruce’s side travels to Bournemouth on Wednesday evening and will no doubt be hoping to achieve a positive result and put their FA Cup exit behind them sooner rather than later.
