Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest social media post from Will Shearer, the son of Toon legend Alan Shearer.

This comes after Shearer shared a post on his Twitter account quote-tweeting a post from Newcastle news Twitter account @NUFC360 that relayed news which was originally published in a report by The Independent on the club’s reported takeover.

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

The report claimed that Amanda Staveley and her Saudi-backed consortium are confident that the Premier League will not block the takeover and believe the holdup is instead down to timing, with Project Restart taking up a lot of the Premier League’s time and efforts at the moment.

The report also added that the consortium believes “they will receive approval to take the reins from Mike Ashley in the next few weeks”.

Shearer then quoted this Twitter post asking “how much longer can this go on” regarding the continuous lack of an official announcement on the matter.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the situation.

Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:

Will the takeover be announced before the current PL season ends?

Yes

Yes

No

No

There were some Newcastle fans who were rather confident and relaxed on when the announcement would take place.

However, there was one Newcastle fan who was convinced the takeover won’t happen at all.

It appears that the takeover and the wait for it to be officially announced is starting to frustrate some Newcastle fans whereas others are remaining patient.

Given the fact that some Newcastle fans in the past have taken part in protests against Ashley, it comes as no surprise that they would be counting down the days until he leaves the club permanently.

The best thing for these Newcastle fans to do now is to focus on how their team will perform in their remaining fixtures when the current Premier League season resumes later this month and try and stay patient for the takeover to be announced.
