Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news surrounding Magpies full-back Javier Manquillo.
This comes after the official Newcastle Twitter account shared a post on their page revealing that Manquillo has signed a new four-year deal at St. James’ Park.
In the caption of their post, the club said that they are “delighted” that Manquillo has signed this new contract.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest bit of business from the club.

Manquillo first signed to Newcastle back in the 2017 summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £4.5 million (per Transfermarkt).

Since then, the Spaniard has gone on to make 61 appearances for the club, in which he has managed to provide five assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

The fact that the club offered Manquillo a new deal to stay at St. James’ Park shows that they value him as part of the current squad.
Also, the fact that Manquillo decided to sign the deal to stay on for four more years just goes to show that he is happy to spend that length of time at the club.
The response to this post from the club’s official Twitter account shows that the majority of these Newcastle fans are happy to keep Manquillo at their club for the time being.
However, it seems his contract extension is not the sign of ambition that a club supposedly set for a lucrative takeover that some fans were hoping for.
