Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest social media post from Toon journalist George Caulkin.
This comes after the journalist shared a post on his official Twitter page replying to a tweet shared by football journalist Luke Edwards on a recent takeover bid made by US TV company chief Henry Mauriss.
In his tweet, Edwards claimed that: “The desperation to dismiss Henry Mauriss is fascinating. Had he come before Saudi bid – which is bogged down in a legal minefield and has been for 11 weeks – it would have sparked excitement, now he’s seen as a bad guy and those reporting his interest labelled frauds.”
In reply to this post, Caulkin responded by saying: “I don’t agree. People have (rightly) dismissed previous bidders. There was huge scepticism about BZG & Kenyon, even though they had Ashley’s tacit support or reached a certain stage. Lots of people were sceptical about Staveley! Here it’s about timing & his lack of profile.”
This post from Caulkin then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their thoughts and opinions on the matter.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:

The proposed takeover from Amanda Staveley and her Saudi-based consortium is currently awaiting the outcome of the Premier League’s owners and directors’ Test.
It was reported that Mauriss would prefer to see the takeover completed before the start of the 2020/21 season
George, please keep up the great work of educating Luke. It’s nice to see that at least one reporter gets what the fans think.

If this guy was such a big player in his type of work which is media he would surely have more of an online presence and surely you would be able to find out how much he is worth but hes like a ghost online theres nothing on him

It appears that Caulkin’s disagreement with Edwards on Mauriss has delighted a lot of Newcastle fans who seem to have taken his side on the matter.
Whether Mauriss’ takeover bid comes to anything substantial is something that these Newcastle fans will have to keep an eye on in the next few days and weeks.
