Many Newcastle United supporters have taken to social media to react to an update regarding the ownership of the club. According to TalkSPORT’s Jim White during Wednesday’s mid-morning show, the takeover is “very close”.
However, according to the Chronicle Live, there is still no word from the Premier League in regards to whether or not the prospective owners have passed the vetting process.
The club has continued to maintain a “no comment” status in regards to the sale, but given this matter has rumbled on for months, you can understand why some fans may be starting to get anxious about what the eventual decision might be.
Here’s how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to White’s comment after it was relayed on Twitter by @NUFCgallowgate. Some fans were particularly keen to point out that White’s previous updates have been inaccurate and were adamant they wouldn’t be paying the TV and radio presenter too much attention.
His record:
It’s very close…
They’ve not looked at it yet…
It’s very close…Yeah I’m not going to pay it too much attention

One thing that is abundantly evident is that until an official announcement has been made, nobody who follows the club will be getting ahead of themselves. The takeover bid from the Saudi-backed consortium has faced much opposition, but it is unclear whether the issues raised by the likes of BeIN Sports and some of the Premier League’s stakeholders genuinely threaten the completion of this deal.
