A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from the Daily Telegraph regarding Javier Manquillo.
The Spaniard’s deal is up at the end of the month, but The Telegraph reports that Manquillo could be set to sign a new long-term contract to keep him on Tyneside.
The report adds that the Toon are hopeful of beating other clubs to his signature, and talks have progressed with the former Liverpool man.
This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans, who would be happy to see Manquillo stay.
Are you happy with this?
Yes, he deserves a new deal
No, rubbish get rid
Most improved player imo

I personally would like to see him stay, unsung in my opinión #NUFC #HWTL #CANS

Has actually been our best right back this season. Takeover or no takeover it would be a good move to keep him as I’d rather we got rid of Krafth or Yedlin first.

He’s currently our best right back so makes sense to extend his contract

Manquillo signed for Newcastle in the summer of 2017, and has made 59 appearances since then for the Magpies, while this season, the Spaniard has played in 13 Premier League matches and earned praise from Steve Bruce.
He has been attracting the attention of Crystal Palace and Southampton, but if this report is to be believed, then Manquillo will be signing a new contract with the Magpies.
However, this has annoyed some Toon fans who feel that because of this, the proposed takeover of the club is off.
Takeover off if we’re trying to keep hold of this guy

And so it begins… back to Ashley level footballers. Shame. Feels like our only chance of potential success taken away.

Takeover off then

One Newcastle fan pointed out that the Toon shouldn’t have to beat other teams to the signature of their own player.
Beating other clubs to the signature of our own player is very Ashley’s #NUFC ??

Manquillo has previously been linked with a move back to Spain – so this will be good news if he signs the new deal.
However, despite some Toon fans reacting positively to this news, his average rating of 6.62/10 in the league suggests that he has not been as good as some supporters think.
Either way, though, it looks like the Spaniard could be extending his stay at St. James’ Park.
