A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed comments made by George Caulkin on the current situation regarding refunds at Newcastle.
Caulkin, speaking on the latest Pod on the Tyne podcast, claimed that there is ‘no excuse for the lack of communication’ and that what the club are doing is ‘scandalous’ and ‘disgusting’.
Newcastle are now the only team in the Premier League to not offer some sort of refund to season ticket holders after the Premier League confirmed that the rest of the season would take place behind closed doors.
The club were asked to comment on this situation, but they refused and have left their fans with a wall of silence.
It is fair to say that Caulkin’s comments went down very well with these Toon fans, who totally agree.
Do you agree with Caulkin?
Yes
No
He’s totally right. Refund the fans won’t affect the takeover.

Well said @GeorgeCaulkin

Fellow journalist Pete Graves suggested that the ongoing takeover situation is impacting the club’s ability to provide refunds.
However, even if that were the case, it is surely still possible for the club to say something.
Instead, they have not responded to anyone, and that is what has annoyed these fans: the lack of communication.
Is it that much to ask for someone to make at least a statement saying it’ll be sorted once the takeover has either gone through or has fallen through? Being left in limbo on the takeover is one thing, but this is a lot of money we’re talking about, especially in Newcastle!!

Exactly. If MA came out and said they’re looking in to it and will announce their plan if the tests conclude negatively.
It would be a lot easier for fans to accept, annoying, but it’s an unusual situation. The normal silence continues to be infuriating.

This has been handled disgracefully by all parties involved. The supporters have been treated like dirt, this fiasco should have been sorted weeks ago.

However, some appear to agree with Graves’ previous point and think that this will all be sorted out as soon as the takeover is complete.
People need to be quiet about tickets and stuff it will get sorted.

I understand what he’s saying, but it could very easily be that they can’t announce anything about how they’re going about refunds as they would also have to mention it’s subject to how the takeover goes. They’d have to be careful of their wording due to NDAs.

I feel this is going to be one of the quick PR wins when the takeover gets announced. Sadly just taking longer than expected ?

It appears that concerns over piracy and, in particular, a link between the Saudi government and BeoutQ is presenting the Premier League with serious problems in regards to the takeover.
There is also no timescale for this process – as PL chief executive Richard Masters confirmed in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
So, those hoping for a quick resolution to this might be let down and, therefore, we believe that the current hierarchy should be speaking to fans about their season ticket money.
