A group of Newcastle United fans have taken to social media to discuss a letter sent to the club’s managing director Lee Charnley regarding the poor communication around season ticket refunds and ticketing issues.

The letter, as reported by the Chronicle Live, warned Charnley that ‘without supporters, Newcastle United does not exist’. According to the piece, the board have been accused of a ‘dereliction of duty’ as the fans bemoan a lack of clarity around how the club will action refunds for those who have purchased tickets to games they are now unable to attend.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the letter after it was posted on Twitter by @NUFC360.

Are you disappointed in the way the club have handled the ticketing situation?

You can gauge the mood of the fans by the tone of the above replies and it’s clear they’re not convinced the letter will be given the attention it deserves by Charnley. The disconnect between the fans and the club is clearly evident and many are hoping to see a change of regime if and when the Premier League give the Saudi-led consortium the green light to take over the Magpies.

However, there are some who were more sympathetic towards the club and believe the lack of communication and subsequent inaction is due to the club being in the middle of the takeover process.

The Chronicle Live claims that having approached the club for answers on the situation, they were told: ‘There is nothing planned at the moment to address what happens to the money paid for matches which will now be played behind closed doors.’

It remains to be seen what will come of this matter for the Magpies.
