Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Craig Hope provides an update on the club’s ongoing takeover deal.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Hope said: “The phrase they’re using is days rather than weeks, whether that’s this week or early next week, we don’t know. For the first time, it does look as if this is going to go through.”
After the footage posted by TalkSPORT was quote-tweeted by NUFC 360, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many rejoicing following the update, while others have claimed that they had not heard Hope sound so positive regarding the progress of the deal before his latest comments.

It would be fair to say that Newcastle fans have been enduring a somewhat turbulent time regarding the process of their club’s takeover bid, after The Guardian reported back in April that no ’11th-hour hitches’ were expected with the deal, before numerous objections against the takeover were lodged, one of which launched an investigation by the World Trade Organisation.
And, as yet, there is still no word from the Premier League as to whether or not the bid will be approved.
Do you think that the Saudi-backed Toon takeover is more likely to be approved now?
YES
NO
However, despite the objections and silence from the Premier League, it would appear from his latest comments that Hope believes the deal now looks likely to go through, and many more Newcastle fans have aired their delight at his remarks.
Im 100% sure the takeover will happen. ??????????

That’s a canny statement that like. It’s finally going to happen. Hope it’s this week 🙂

It should be noted that Hope’s comments – despite being from a source that he supposedly trusts – could also just be speculation.
As such, it would be wise for the Newcastle fans not to start the takeover party just yet.
