Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson is set to return to the squad for the club’s fixture versus Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. Sky Sports’ Martin Tyler has revealed (as quoted by HITC) that the 26-year-old will be in contention to feature at Anfield in midweek.

Tyler told Sky Sports: “I’m assured Andy Robertson will be fit for the Crystal Palace game on Wednesday.”

The Scotland international missed the Merseyside derby last weekend due to injury and deputy James Milner ended up having to be substituted just before half time (as per BBC Sport) after pulling up with a hamstring injury.

Robertson has been a key player for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, making 28 appearances in the Premier League so far. Not only has he been a constant in the league’s best defence, but he has also proven himself to be a major asset going forward, contributing seven assists so far (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

TIF Thoughts…

When Milner left the field on Sunday, he was replaced by Joe Gomez, a right-footed central defender by trade – and another player playing outside of his usual position. In our view, the Reds missed Robertson’s attacking threat and perhaps the fact that Liverpool drew a blank while amassing just 10 shots from a 70% share of the ball is not a huge surprise.

Therefore, we believe having Robertson back will be a huge boost to Klopp’s side and benefit them in an attacking sense as much as it would from a defensive standpoint.
