Liverpool are leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho this summer, according to Le 10 Sport. The former Manchester City winger appears as though he will be the subject of much speculation this summer despite his current deal with the Bundesliga outfit not due to expire until June 2022.

Sancho left Manchester to sign for the German club back in August 2017 in a deal worth £7.05m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) and has become a key member of their side.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

So far this season, the England international has played 40 times in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing his teammates with 20 assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp has identified the winger as the man to replace Sadio Mane should he decide to leave Anfield this summer, having been linked during football’s suspension with a move to Spain to join up with Real Madrid.

TIF Thoughts…

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Sancho is currently valued at £105.3m, which suggests if Liverpool were to stand any chance of landing the player, they would need to break the bank.

Given they were reportedly unwilling to pay Timo Werner’s release clause, which has seemingly opened the door for him to join their Premier League rivals Chelsea, you could be forgiven for thinking the Merseyside club aren’t planning on spending big this summer.

If the Reds were to sell Mane, who holds a similar value of £108m despite being significantly older than Sancho, the club may be able to raise the funds to go after the London-born winger. Unless that happens, we believe it to be highly unlikely Liverpool will be in for the player.
