Liverpool target Kai Havertz has been the subject of a bid from Real Madrid, according to SportBuzzer.

It was claimed last week by Bleacher Report that Jurgen Klopp would ‘love to work with’ the player, however, that report claimed Liverpool may struggle to land the Bayer Leverkusen star this summer due to the finances that would be involved after it came to light they were unwilling to meet Timo Werner’s release clause.

Interestingly, the SportBuzzer report states that Real is Havertz’s ‘dream club‘, which may come as a blow to the Reds, as the German is reportedly targeted by Klopp’s side.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Havertz is valued at £72.9m, so we can perhaps assume that is the absolute minimum any club interested in landing the 21-year-old would have to pay – and that sum is already significantly higher than that of Werner’s release clause.

Los Blancos’ opening offer for the German is said to have been rejected, though it is thought that Spain is a more attractive destination than the Premier League for the midfielder.

Havertz has made 27 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and his average performance rating currently stands at 7.3/10 in the league (as per WhoScored.com).

TIF Thoughts…

Havertz is known for his aerial ability, finishing, dribbling and through balls (as per WhoScored.com). However, given his preferred position appears to be in an attacking-midfield role, we’re not entirely sure where he would fit into this current Liverpool side and that may make the Anfield giants reluctant to invest – with Klopp’s side tending to play in a 4-3-3 formation without a specialist attacking midfield player.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool are unwilling to spend significantly this summer.
