Castles also spoke about Raul Jimenez’s future at Wolverhampton Wanderers and the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

However, he spent a little bit of time talking about what Liverpool have planned, and here is what he had to say about Lovren:

“The information I have is that while Liverpool are in the market for a centre-back this summer, it’s very much dependent on what they’re able to do in other areas of the team.

“They would like to dispense with Dejan Lovren; if Lovren leaves, then they will bring in a new centre-back.”

It seems as if Lovren’s time at Anfield is up, if Castles is to be believed.

TIF Thoughts…

Lovren has one year left on his contract and is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt – so if the Reds do sell him, they might not make much money from his sale.

However, with the likes of Roma said to be looking at the Croatia international, Liverpool should be able to get rid of a player who has had a decent season for the Reds – averaging a 7.09/10 rating for his performances in the league, as per WhoScored.

Lovren has played 10 Premier League games this season, in which Jurgen Klopp’s men have won eight games and conceded 11 goals.

However, he started their only league defeat of the season against Watford and earned a rating of 6.51 for that match – his second-lowest in the competition this season.

The former Southampton man has been at Anfield since 2014, but it seems as if his time with Klopp’s men is up.
