Everton’s Theo Walcott has been ruled out for the return of the Premier League season after undergoing abdominal surgery.

As revealed by the club on Wednesday, the English winger will not be fit in time for the return of the Premier League season due to injury (per Everton).

The Toffees did not reveal more on the injury itself other than confirming the news that the former Arsenal man had ‘abdominal surgery’ on Monday after he ‘developed symptoms’ following the first team’s return to training.

We'll start easy for this Everton kits quiz, which shirt sponsor did the Toffees announce that their partnership with would be being brought to a premature end earlier this season?

Following his surgery, Walcott has now started his rehabilitation with Everton’s medical staff.

The statement then goes on to state that the winger ‘is expected’ to return to training with the club in four weeks.

Everton’s first game back following the return of the Premier League will see them face Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Sunday 21st June (per BBC).

TIF Thoughts…

With the post from the Toffees revealing that it is estimated that Walcott will only be making a return to training in four weeks, it seems likely that the winger will miss the majority of the club’s remaining games.

Four weeks on from the day of the club’s injury announcement, the Toffees will have played five of their remaining nine league matches and that will only be the date that Walcott is expected back in training.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side will then play their remaining four league fixtures over a 15-day period.

Is losing Theo Walcott to injury a big blow for the Toffees?

No, not that important

However, this season, the English winger has not been in such impressive form, as he has been the Toffees’ seventh-worst performer in the Premier League (per WhoScored).

A weak average rating of 6.41/10 in the league has left the Englishman in the lowly ranking within the squad.

So, the loss of the £10.8m-rated man for most of the remainder of the season may not be all too detrimental to the Goodison Park club.
