A report has emerged claiming that Everton are set to face some competition for Turkey international Cengiz Under’s signature.
This news concerning Under was recently shared on Twitter by Everton news Twitter account @TheGwladysSt, which cites Italian publication Corriere dello Sport as the original source of this alleged news.
This report was shared in an article that was published by Sport Witness, which claims that the 22-year-old Turkey international ‘is liked by those in charge’ at Goodison Park, having been linked with the club ‘for several months’.
It also includes a link to an article that they published earlier this month which claimed that Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti has ‘marked’ the attacker as a potential transfer target. That previous report from Sport Witness detailing the Italian coach’s fondness of the player also cites Corriere dello Sport as the original source of that news. Sport Witness has explained that the Italian publication’s latest report linking the Toffees with a move for the 22-year-old also claims that Napoli are targeting the attacker, who Roma allegedly value at €30m (£27.49m).
Do you think that Under will be at Goodison Park next season?
YES
NO
TIF Thoughts…
Under has completed an average of 1.8 dribbles per game in the Serie A this season. No Everton player has completed a higher number of dribbles per game in the Premier League than Under has completed in Serie A this term, with Richarlison being the only Toffees player to also complete the same, with 1.8 dribbles per league game.
Under has also played 1.5 key passes per league game this season according to WhoScored. Only Gylfi Sigurdsson and Lucas Digne have played more key passes per game in the Premier League for Everton this term than Under has played in Serie A.
With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Under has shown his playmaking ability for Roma this season and it mightn’t come as a big surprise that Everton are said to be facing some competition to secure his signature.
