The supposed transfer figure for the transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin from Everton to Ligue 1 club OGC Nice has emerged.

According to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman may end up leaving Goodison Park for the French club with a fee of just £2million exchanging hands.

The fee would represent a great deal less than the £24million that the Toffees paid to secure the player’s services from Manchester United in January 2017 (per BBC).

We'll start easy for this Everton kits quiz, which shirt sponsor did the Toffees announce that their partnership with would be being brought to a premature end earlier this season?

Despite the fee being £22million less than what he arrived for three and a half years ago, it is believed that the 30-year-old is keen on making the switch.

According to a L’Equipe report from late last week, as cited by Sport Witness, Schneiderlin has not hidden his ‘enthusiasm’ for the transfer move.

The Frenchman currently has a market value of £8.55million and just over a year remaining on his contract at Goodison Park (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

On the face of it, the supposed deal seems like a weak one for Everton as it is £22million less than what the club paid for Schneiderlin and £6.55million below his market value.

However, the less obvious positive of the deal to move Schneiderlin out for a cheaper fee is to remove his wages from the club’s wage bill.

According to Spotrac, the midfielder is the joint-fourth-highest earner of the known wages at the club as he is on a £100,000-per-week contract.

Should Everton just cut their losses on Morgan Schneiderlin and sell him for £2million?

No, should wait for more

The players that are known to be on the same weekly fee as Schneiderlin are Jordan Pickford, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott.

Furthermore, the midfielder’s 6.42/10 average rating in the Premier League this season, which has made him Everton’s eighth-worst performer (per WhoScored), would suggest he is not worth the expenditure.

So, while it may seem disappointing to make such a huge loss on Schneiderlin, it may be in the Merseyside club’s best interests to cut their losses on the Frenchman.
