Fans of Everton have been reacting to an update on the Toffees’ upcoming clash with Liverpool which was posted to social media.
According to Paul Joyce, the Toffees are ‘hopeful’ that their home tie of the Merseyside derby will be taking place at Goodison Park.
The tweet from the journalist then went on to explain that the club has now requested that Liverpool City Council’s safety advisory group is convened, a meeting which is likely to take place next week.
A suggestion that the game may be played away from Merseyside arose due to the fact that police were refusing to budge over requesting high-profile matches be moved to neutral venues (per The Mirror).
If Man City slip up against Arsenal on 17 June, then Liverpool can win the Premier League title against the Toffees, meaning there are concerns that Liverpool fans may turn up as the game will be behind closed doors.
It was then suggested that the game which was set to take place at Goodison Park could be moved to the Etihad Stadium, with Wembley Stadium also being suggested later (per The Mirror).
So, following Joyce’s update which stated that the club is hopeful the game will remain in Merseyside, Everton fans aired their reactions.

Who actually cares, it’s boring all this. The stadium is still empty so there’s no advantage

Genuinely scandalous if it doesn’t happen at Goodison, taints the title otherwise

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds currently sit 45 points ahead of their Merseyside rivals in the Premier League table, with Liverpool first and Everton 12th (per BBC).
The competition as we know it is finished for the season anyway, too many rule changes for it to be known as the premier league 19/20 season. Means absolutely nothing now

The game had been initially set to be played at Goodison Park on 16th March (per BBC), however, it was postponed when football was suspended due to the current viral outbreak (per BBC).
Following the announcement late last week that Premier League football was set to return on 17 June (per Everton), though, Toffees fans continued reacting to the journalist’s report on what will likely be their first game back.
