Supporters of Everton have been reacting to an update which was posted to the Toffees’ official Twitter account announcing an injury to Yerry Mina.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Merseyside club relayed a post from their website to social media and stated that the Colombian would be absent for ‘several weeks’ after picking up a muscle injury (per Everton).
The post on the club’s website went on to explain that the ‘muscle injury’ was a partial tear in his left quad muscle which he picked up during training last week (per Everton).
Everton’s statement on the 25-year-old’s injury concluded by stating that Mina is now in the early stages of rehabilitation with medical staff and ‘making good progress‘.
With the Colombian sidelined for ‘several weeks’, it seems likely that Mina will miss the restart of the Premier League which is scheduled to be on 17th June (per Everton).
After the club stated that the 25-year-old defender picked up his injury in training ‘last week’, it is unclear if that was before or after contact training was resumed.
It was on Wednesday last week that it was announced that Premier League shareholders had voted unanimously to resume contact training (per Everton).
So, after the news of the injury was shared to supporters on social media, fans of the Toffees aired their reactions.

This season, Mina has been a key player for Everton as he has been the Toffees’ fifth-best performer in the Premier League with a solid 6.85/10 average rating (per WhoScored).
So, following the injury update, fans made it clear that he will be missed in the team due to his important role.
And the bad luck continues

Do Everton need to sign another centre-back during the next transfer window?Yes, it is essentialNo, we have enough cover |
However, despite Mina’s strong average rating, it appears that his defensive statistics are somewhat lacking.
This season, the Colombian has made only the joint-ninth-most tackles (1.5) and joint-seventh most interceptions (1.0) in the squad per league game on average.
Supporters of the club still made it clear that the loss of the 25-year-old was a blow, though.
What a blow with the derby game approaching. It means that Holgate and Keane will have to demonstrate their best form against a formidable attack.

As can be seen in these responses, lots of Everton fans are gutted that Mina has been ruled out of action for ‘several weeks’ with a muscle injury.
