Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly ‘marked’ AS Roma’s Cengiz Under as a potential ‘transfer affair’ to bring the Turkish winger to Goodison Park.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, the Italian manager is keen on securing the arrival of the £21.6m-rated 22-year-old from Serie A.

It is stated in the report that the Merseyside club have ‘marked him as a possible transfer affair’ and Roma are also keen on the move to secure some funds.

We'll start easy for this Everton kits quiz, which shirt sponsor did the Toffees announce that their partnership with would be being brought to a premature end earlier this season?

It is thought that a deal for the winger would set Everton back around €30m (£26.9m).

The Toffees may face competition for the signing of Under, though, as Corriere dello Sport also mentions that Juventus may be keen on signing the Turkey international.

However, Roma prefer the option of selling to Everton as the Old Lady reportedly want to include Cristian Romero as part of a swap deal instead of paying a higher fee.

TIF Thoughts…

For the Toffees, this is a transfer which appears to make sense due to the player’s ability and also the fact that he plays in a position which they are lacking in.

Although he can play on both wings, Under is naturally a right-winger (per Transfermarkt) – a position which Ancelotti only currently has Theo Walcott (per Transfermarkt).

Furthermore, when comparing Under with Everton’s English attacker, it is evident that the player ‘marked’ for signing is a far superior talent.

Would you be pleased if the Toffees signed Cengiz Under from Roma for around the £25million mark?

Yes, would be a good deal

No, he's not good enough

No, he's not good enough

In the Premier League this season, Walcott has taken 1.3 shots, made 0.6 key passes and performed 0.6 dribbles per game on average (per WhoScored).

In Serie A, Under outperforms all of these statistics having taken 1.7 shots, made 1.6 key passes and performed 1.9 dribbles per league outing on average (per WhoScored).

So, it is evident that the Turkish 22-year-old is both far younger and far more potent than the Toffees’ 31-year-old right-winger and could, therefore, be a strong signing for €30m (£26.9m).
