According to a report that was recently published by Football.london, Crystal Palace centre-back Mamadou Sakho has returned to training ahead of the Eagles’ Premier League clash with Bournemouth this Saturday

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

As per Football.london, the defender, who is currently valued at £8.55m by Transfermarkt, had been out of action due to injury since New Year’s Day prior to the postponement of professional football in England back in March, however, now the defender is said to be training alongside his teammates.

This report goes on to state that Sakho’s return to fitness may give Eagles boss Roy Hodgson a difficult decision to make with regard to his squad selection this Saturday, with Football.london explaining that Gary Cahill and Scott Dann formed a solid partnership at centre-back prior to the Premier League’s postponement, helping Palace to keep ‘three clean sheets in a row’. Cahill and Dann both played a full 90 minutes in those three games.

TIF Thoughts…

Sakho has only featured in eight of Palace’s 29 Premier League games this season. Furthermore, the 30-year-old earned an average overall rating of just 6.21 from those eight performances in England’s top flight this term according to WhoScored, which makes him the joint-lowest-rated player in Palace’s squad to have played in more than one Premier League game this season.

With that in mind, in addition to the fact that Cahill and Dann had delivered some effective performances together at the centre of Palace’s defence prior to the Premier League’s postponement, Sakho may struggle to earn a place in Palace’s first team upon his return from injury.
