Fans of Crystal Palace have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays comments made by Palace chairman Steve Parish on Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail (via Football.london) concerning Parish’s 10 years of being chairman of the Eagles, the 54-year-old claims that he missed out on the signing of the Bayern Munich left-back, after Parish’s sister urged him to buy Davies while he was playing for MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.

Parish goes on to claim that the club “tried everything” to make the deal happen, however, the Premier League would not grant the club a work permit in order for the player to sign with the club.

In reaction to his comments, which were relayed on Twitter by Palace Xtra, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating that the news was depressing, while others have joked that Parish’s sister is the club’s best scout.

Davies has highly impressed for Bayern so far this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists over his 25 Bundesliga appearances, averaging an incredible WhoScored match rating of 7.59/10, ranking him behind only Robert Lewandowski as the club’s best performer in the league.

If Palace had signed Davies, do you think he would still be as good as he is today?

In addition to this, the left-back has been even more impressive in the Champions League, providing two assists over his four appearances, averaging an insane 8.32 match rating in the competition.

Considering how impressive Davies has been this season, it is no wonder why many of these Palace fans are distraught at learning that their club missed out on the player a few years ago.

However, it will likely have hurt Parish just as much, as the left-back is currently valued at £40.5 million, and, being just 19 years old, it is highly probable that his value is only going to increase with time.
