Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is not expected to return to fitness until ‘August at the earliest’ – that’s according to Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Post. The writer shared the update via his Twitter account after a supporter posed the question on the social media platform.

The 28-year-old hasn’t featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since the defeat at Charlton Athletic back in September (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). Back in February, the club announced, via their official website, that the decision had been made to send Forshaw to the United States to visit the Steadman Clinic in Colorado for hip surgery with a view to him returning for pre-season.

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

Based on Smyth’s update, nothing has changed, although the player told West Yorkshire Sport Daily back in March that he was “slightly ahead of schedule”. He did go on to say, however, that he would be “taking it day by day and week by week” and he was reluctant to provide the fans with a specific date.

TIF Thoughts…

Forshaw joined the Whites in January 2018 from Middlesbrough in a deal reportedly worth £4.59m and since his arrival, he has made 52 appearances for the club. Prior to his injury, the Liverpool-born midfielder appeared seven times for the Yorkshire-based club in the Championship this season, averaging a performance rating of 6.76/10 (via WhoScored.com).

Fortunately for Bielsa’s side, even without Forshaw, they have managed to find an effective solution in midfield with Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich being two players who have played key roles. The Whites are currently top of the Championship and are hoping to secure promotion back to the top flight of English football for the first time since their relegation in 2004.

Judging by the above update, in our view, there is a chance Adam Forshaw’s next Leeds United appearance may come in the Premier League.
