The EFL is likely to ban audio being played from the stands across the Championship to prevent any dispute about unfair distractions, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.

Leeds United trialled the use of fake crowd noises within the stadium during a recent training game as they look to try and replicate the atmosphere created by the Elland Road faithful, but according to Hay’s recent article, they could be forced to scrap that if the EFL follows through and bans it.

Hay claims the Whites are ‘doing what they can to make their ground feel like home and the new normal less peculiar’ ahead of their vital fixture with Fulham which is scheduled to take place this Saturday.

Here’s what was said:

“The EFL is likely to ban audio from the stands across the Championship to prevent any dispute about unfair distractions but Leeds, like every club, are doing what they can to make their ground feel like home and the new normal less peculiar.”

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

TIF Thoughts…

We knew that Marcelo Bielsa’s side would be without the support of their fans within the stadium, but it seems the EFL will put a stop to any plans they may have had of trying to replicate the Elland Road atmosphere as best as possible.

Do you think crowd noises within the stadium will help Leeds United?

The lack of home support is certainly not ideal, however, it is an issue all of the Championship clubs are currently having to contend with at present. There has been no official word from the EFL as yet in regards to a ban on artificial crowd noises being played within the stadiums, but going by Hay’s report, it feels as though it is imminent.

The Whites are currently seven points clear of Scott Parker’s side, who will no doubt be arriving at the weekend hoping to reduce that gap to just four points and setting up a nervy end to the season for the Yorkshire-based club.
