Birmingham Live has recently published an article which shares the alleged news that former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is allegedly interested in preparing a takeover bid for Blues.

This report, which explains that Cellino is currently the owner of Brescia, cites Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb as the original source of this alleged news. This comes after TuttoMercatoWeb reported that Cellino is said to be growing “angry and tired” in Brescia and is exploring the possibility of making a return to the English game.

This report also claims that Birmingham City are one of three Championship clubs that the former Leeds owner is “examining”, as he explores the possibility of taking over an English club once again.

Birmingham Live’s article which shares this news states that Cellino was a “controversial figure” during his time at Elland Road, explaining that the Whites had a total of six different managers during Cellino’s time as the club’s owner, whilst the Italian also cut costs at the club during his time there. This might not make him the most appealing prospective club owner for Blues fans and a takeover bid might not be welcomed with open arms should Cellino attempt to buy Birmingham City.

TIF Thoughts…

TuttoMercatoWeb’s report shares that Charlton Athletic are another club who Cellino is said to be interested in purchasing and this article states that the possibility of having a club in London is something that would appeal to the ex-Leeds owner.

Additionally, Sky Sports recently reported that the Addicks are currently subject to a number of different takeover bids as the club’s owner Tahnoon Nimer is trying to sell the club. With that in mind, a move for the Addicks might make more sense for Cellino than a move for the Blues at present.
