What do we think?

Austin joined the Baggies last summer, signing a two-year deal with the club who spent £4m to bring him in from Southampton, as per the BBC, who described him as a “proven Championship goalscorer” upon completing his move to The Hawthorns.

Austin is currently the Baggies’ second-highest goalscorer in their 2019/20 Championship campaign, having scored eight league goals this term. Furthermore, he has started only 13 league games for the club this year, which is significantly less than half of the Baggies’ total of 37 Championship fixtures this season.

It may be fair to say that Austin has delivered a decent goal return this season considering the number of league minutes that he has played, however, he may not have started enough games for the Baggies this season to warrant being described as their main striker, and with that in mind, it’s tough to imagine him assuming that role in the Premier League should the Baggies earn a place in England’s top flight for next season.
