West Brom-focused Twitter account @WBAReport recently posted a tweet sharing the news that the Baggies “remain closely linked” with Croatian centre-back Domagoj Vida.
This post cites Turkish publication ‘Aksam’ as the original source of this report, while they also cite the Express and Star as having relayed the news. Back in April, the Express and Star shared that the Baggies are allegedly interested in the centre-back, “according to reports in Turkey”.
This article followed a report from Aksam that had been published earlier that month which claimed that the Besiktas man is “at the top” of Baggies boss Slaven Bilic’s wishlist heading into the 2020 summer transfer window. Aksam also claimed that Besiktas would like to receive a transfer fee of €10m (£8.98m) for the defender in this article.
A more recent report from Aksam has claimed that Arsenal are “preparing to bid” for the defender, however, this report, which was published earlier this month, does mention that Vida is still a target for Bilic and West Brom.
Some Baggies fans have been sharing their thoughts on this potential transfer target in response to @WBAReport’s tweet. Some have shared excitement about this potential transfer, however, other Baggies fans have shared some concern over the 31-year-old defender’s age. Read the reactions of some Baggies fans to this post in the tweets below.

An offer of €10M may be enough to lure the Croatian international to the Hawthorns this summer.

What do we think?
Only two Besiktas players have accumulated a higher number of league minutes than Vida has accumulated in the Turkish Super Lig during the 2019/20 season. He has also earned a respectable average overall rating of 6.78 from WhoScored for his performances in the Turkish Super Lig this term.
Considering that he has featured fairly prominently for Besiktas this season, it may be fair to say that it might be harsh to criticise Vida solely due to his age, as it appears as though it hasn’t had too much of an impact on his game yet.
