Some West Brom fans have flocked to a tweet from the club’s official Twitter account that includes a link to an article from the club’s official website which relays a statement that was recently made by the EFL regarding the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.
On 21 May, the EFL released a statement explaining that each EFL division will vote on curtailing the 2019/20 season or resuming it again when possible. This statement goes on to explain that a 51% majority will be required to curtail the season and in the event of curtailment, an unweighted points-per-game model will be used to decide the final standings in each division.
The Baggies currently sit in second place on the Championship table, six points clear of third-placed Fulham who are their nearest challengers outside of the automatic promotion places. All Championship clubs have also played 37 games at present, meaning that the Baggies would be promoted to the Premier League in the event of curtailment via a points-per-game model.
Some West Brom supporters have been buzzing in response to this news. Read the positive reactions of some Baggies fans to this statement in the tweets below.

What do we think?
This statement from the EFL appears to take the option of declaring the season null and void off the table. This may be good news for Baggies fans as their club are in a positive position to secure promotion to the Premier League for next season at present. With that in mind, it’s not too surprising that these West Brom supporters have been pleased by this news.
