What do we think?
Since taking over Sunderland in October of last year, Parkinson has overseen 25 of Sunderland’s League One fixtures, winning 11, while drawing seven and losing seven.
These results have left in the club in seventh place in the League One table, with just goal difference keeping them out of the play-off places, and only three points behind second-placed Rotherham United.
However, due to the current unexpected circumstances, The Athletic has recently reported that the League One season could be abandoned, with promotion and relegation from the league potentially being decided on a points-per-game basis, which would mean Sunderland would miss out on promotion to the Championship.
As such, the club’s performances throughout the league so far this season have resulted in them missing out on promotion, albeit in an unusual way, and this is something that fans quite clearly believe is Parkinson’s fault.
