Sheffield Wednesday-focused journalist Alex Miller has caught the attention of some Owls fans after he posted a tweet sharing an article that was recently published by The Sheffield Star which shares some details regarding the Owls’ decision to “take advantage of an extension which will allow them to present their accounts for last season as late as July 30”.
This report explains that while they would originally have been expected to hand over their accounts at the end of April, companies were offered “an extension to that deadline”, due to any complications that may have arisen as a result of the current viral outbreak.
Wednesday are reportedly one of only four clubs in the top two tiers of English football to take advantage of this extension.
This article explains that Wednesday got themselves into trouble with the EFL when they published their accounts “almost three months after the April deadline” last year. Furthermore, the Owls have also been subject to EFL charges in relation to the sale of their Hillsborough stadium to Dejphon Chansiri, as per the BBC.
Some Owls fans don’t appear to have been particularly surprised by this recent news. Read the reactions of some Wednesday fans to Miller’s tweet sharing this news regarding the club’s decision to take advantage of this accounts extension in the tweets below.

What do we think?
Considering that Wednesday published their accounts late last year and have been in trouble with the EFL of late regarding the sale of their stadium to owner Dejphon Chansiri, it may be understandable why these Owls fans don’t appear to be particularly surprised by their club’s decision to take advantage of this extension.
