Sheffield Wednesday-focused journalist Alex Miller recently posted a tweet sharing a link to an article that was recently published by The Sheffield Star, which shares some comments that Barnsley’s co-owner Paul Conway recently made about the Owls and their ongoing financial fair play (FFP) case with the EFL.
This article shares some comments that Conway recently made when speaking to The Athletic, to whom the Barnsley co-owner declared that the Tykes “will make a claim” if they are relegated whilst the Owls are allowed to remain in the Championship despite being charged with breaching financial fair play rules. He goes on to explain that he is “an American and in American sports, (they) self-regulate”.
Wednesday were charged with misconduct by the EFL after they sold their Hillsborough stadium to the club’s owner Dejphon Chansiri “to try to avoid breaking spending rules”, as per the BBC. According to The Athletic’s recent report, the Owls’ hearing in relation to this EFL charge “is imminent”.
Some Wednesday fans have been responding to Miller’s tweet with criticism for the Barnsley co-owner. Read the reactions of some Owls fans to Conway’s comments in the tweets below.

Yet another twist in the saga of Sheffield Wednesday's courtroom battle with the EFL.

Just a thought, but aren’t we supposed to be found guilty of an offence before we can be punished.

Well it’s not an American sport is it?
— Alex Robinson (@DullOwl) May 20, 2020
Nevermind mate we aren’t in America so it’s not really up to other clubs who may get relegated to make that decision.

Are you worried by Conway's comments?NOT AT ALLYES I AM |
Only trying to save themselves because its us it a bonus for them

No chance in hell are we going to be found not guilty on this.
— John Paul (@walthamowl82) May 20, 2020
He is not in America.

What do we think?
Barnsley currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table and considering that Conway has threatened to take legal action against the EFL should his side be relegated whilst Wednesday aren’t, it’s not too surprising that these comments haven’t gone down very well with Owls supporters.
