Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Owls-focused journalist Dom Howson who has shared a tweet from Yorkshire Live’s Ricky Charlesworth which includes a link to an article discussing the possibility of James Beattie joining the Owls.

Charlesworth’s Yorkshire Live article shares some comments that Wednesday’s current assistant coach Lee Bullen recently made in an interview with ParsTV, where he revealed that Owls manager Garry Monk’s “normal number three”, Beattie, was “put on gardening leave” by Birmingham City with two years left on his contract when Monk left the club and the Owls “weren’t prepared to pay compensation” while Beattie’s current employers “weren’t willing to release” him.

Bullen went on to state that he “wouldn’t be surprised” to see Beattie join Monk at Hillsborough at some point, according to Yorkshire Live.

Howson’s tweet sharing this news has caught the attention of some Owls fans. Read the reactions of some Wednesday supporters to this report in the tweets below.

To kick off this quiz on the Championship's top goalscorers, can you name the league's top goalscorer from its inaugural 2004/05 campaign?

Do you think James Beattie could make a big impact as a part of Garry Monk's backroom staff?

YES, MONK NEEDS HIM

NO, HE WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE

What do we think?

It might be fair to say that Monk has struggled to make much of a positive impact since arriving at Hillsborough. The former Birmingham manager joined the Owls on the sixth of September with the club sitting in 11th place in the league and they currently sit in 15th place on the Championship table

However, as per Transfermarkt, the Owls haven’t spent any money on transfer fees thus far during Monk’s time at the club and as this article from Yorkshire Live explains, Monk’s former assistant Pep Clotet took his place as Birmingham manager, while his “normal number three” Beattie has also been unable to join him at Hillsborough.

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Monk hasn’t been given much of a chance to make a significant impact at his current club thus far and it may be understandable why some Wednesday fans seem positive about the idea of Beattie potentially joining their club.
