Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Carlos Cuellar reflects on Rangers’ run to the UEFA Cup final.
In his post, the former Rangers defender quote-tweeted the club’s official Twitter account, which shared a picture of the Rangers starting XI in the 2008 UEFA Cup final, before commenting:
“After playing 19 European matches (Champions League + UEFA Cup), playing the UEFA Cup Final was the culmination of one of my best seasons both at a professional and a personal level.”
In reaction to his post, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that it was a pleasure watching Cuellar in a Rangers shirt, while others have claimed that the 38-year-old left Ibrox far too soon.
Is Carlos Cuellar the best defender you've seen at Rangers?
Yes
No

What a magnificent player you were for as Carlos. One of the best centre backs I’ve seen play for us in all my years following the teddy bears. We came so close to what should have been a glorious season. Fantastic memories ???????????

You left far too soon, but what an impact you had in your short time here. Outstanding.

In my 25 years of going to Ibrox you are in my top 4 in the best centre halves I’ve seen after Gough, Amoruso and F De boer. Martin O Neill absolutely wasted you at right back

Then you left ??

If you stayed one more season the entire fan base would have recognised you as the best defender to play for the club. You were unbelievable.

What do we think?
After his arrival at the club from Osasuna in 2007, Cuellar went onto make 55 appearances for Rangers, scoring four goals, before moving to Aston Villa for a fee of £9 million in 2008.
However, despite playing just one full season with Rangers, the 38-year-old obviously left a very good impression on fans of the club, many of whom have claimed that he is one of the best defenders they have seen in a Gers shirt.
