Rick Everitt, who is a Charlton Athletic fan in addition to being the editor of Addicks-focused fanzine ‘Voice of The Valley’, recently posted a tweet that included a link to an article from votvonline.com which discusses the reactions of some of the club’s ex-directors in response to the takeover bids that have reportedly been made for the club lately.
As explained by this article, a group of ex-Charlton directors consisting of Derek Chappell, David Sumners, and Bob Whitehand have been disputing East Street Investments’ right to own the club, following their takeover in January and now, these ex-directors have allegedly claimed that they have “heard nothing” from either Huw Jenkins or Laurence Bassini, both of whom have recently been linked with taking the club over following an announcement from Charlton’s official website last Friday which confirmed a “change in ownership at East Street Investments”.
This article from Voice of The Valley goes on to explain that these three directors “are collectively owed £2.65m dating back to 2009” by the club.
This report has drawn a largely negative reaction from the Addicks fans who have been responding to Everitt’s tweet, with one Charlton fan stating that these ex-directors are “putting off” potential buyers. Read some Charlton fans’ reactions to this post in the tweets below.

Just like the last takeover?

This is what is puttin off any buyer, having to pay the ex directors off and rightly so, would give any new potential buyer a confused look and 2nd thoughts. It’s a catch 22

Are these ex-Charlton directors preventing potential buyers from taking over the Addicks?YES, DEFINITELYNO, I DON'T THINK SO |
Do they have to?
— Elliot Tapping (@Elltap) May 27, 2020
I would have thought they had more important issues to deal with at this present time

What do we think?
It may be fair to say that the current situation at Charlton Athletic appears to be quite complicated and it may not come as a surprise that some Addicks fans aren’t particularly fond of these former Charlton directors, considering that their claims of being owed money might not make the club a particularly inviting prospect for potential buyers.
