Simon Jordan, the former owner of Crystal Palace, caught the attention of plenty of Charlton Athletic fans recently after he posted a tweet sharing some sympathy for the club and its supporters in response to recent reports that Laurence Bassini is allegedly interested in purchasing Tahnoon Nimer’s stake in the club.
As per Charlton’s official website, ”the club has received notice of a change in ownership at East Street Investments”, who completed a takeover of the club from Roland Duchatelet back in January. Since completing that takeover, majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer has failed to provide source and sufficiency of funding to the EFL, as per the Evening Standard.
Following that news, Sky Sports have reported that Bassini is allegedly interested in completing a takeover of the club. Bassini was previously the owner of Watford, and he was accused of “financial impropriety” during his time there.
After Bassini has been linked with the club, Jordan took to Twitter to state that Charlton fans are being “used and abused” by “endless unsavoury people,” and this tweet received support from some Addicks fans. Read the replies of some Addicks supporters to Jordan’s recent post in the tweets below.

Simon as a Charlton fan who absolutely despised you for years, I would snap any mans hand off who says Simon Jordan wants to buy your club. At least I’d know we’d have an owner who would put the club first ahead of his own gain.

Thanks Simon ever since your good mate Murray sold up he’s intro’d us to a series of progressively worse and worse owners & now with the club on its knees & being valued for £1 its inviting any crook or chancer to come & have a go at exploiting us. We appreciate to support ??

Do you agree with Simon Jordan's tweet?YESNO |
Thanks Simon. Your common sense and direct talking has been much appreciated by the majority of right-minded Charlton supporters. Ironic really that your star is far higher in the Charlton sky now than Richard Murray who has sold out on the fans.

Mr Jordan Sir I didn’t know your opinions or way of thinking prior to your palace affiliation which didn’t sit well with me however you speak sense and are genuine which you have to respect. I only hope someone with integrity buys #cafc keep up the good work!

It’s been happening since we got relegated from the Premier League. We can’t catch a break. Chancer after chancer. Crook after crook.

What do we think?
It seems as though Jordan is taking the best interests of Charlton Athletic’s fans into consideration in his recent tweet and it’s not surprising that this post has gone down well with plenty of Addicks fans, even though he used to own a rival club.
