The Athletic’s Gregg Evans recently posted a tweet to share an article which has claimed that “several clubs” are “considering legal action” against the EFL if they are relegated whilst other clubs, such as Birmingham City, are allowed to remain in the Championship, starting the season “on minus points because of financial fair play (FFP) sanctions”.

The Blues had been charged with “breaching financial rules” by the EFL back in January, however, this charge was dismissed by an independent disciplinary commission. However, as the Athletic’s recent article explains, the EFL have appealed this decision.

Evans has caught the attention of plenty of Blues fans by sharing this report from the Athletic which claims that some Championship clubs will take legal action if they are relegated whilst clubs who have been in trouble with the EFL over financial issues are allowed to remain in the league.

Many of the Birmingham fans who have been responding to this post have shared that they aren’t concerned about this news, indicating that they feel that they are safe from any potential sanctions. Read the reactions of some Blues fans to this post in the tweets below.

Considering that the EFL’s current case against the Blues had previously been dismissed by an independent disciplinary commission, it may be understandable why the club’s fans might feel that they are ultimately safe from any sanctions.

However, as the EFL have appealed against that decision, it may be fair to say that Birmingham City aren’t totally out of the woods yet.
