Tottenham fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reports on Chelsea winger Willian, which suggests that his move to Spurs is not as close to coming to fruition as first thought.
According to ESPN reporter Joao Castelo-Branco (via Ricky Sacks), the Brazilian has denied speaking to Jose Mourinho about a move to the North London club this summer, as has been previously reported. Castelo-Branco insists that the deal to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is not even close, which again contradicts previous reports which have suggested he was close to signing.
So far this season, the 31-year-old has averaged an impressive 7.25 rating for his performances in the Premier League, having contributed five goals and five assists in 28 appearances (per WhoScored). Despite this, the former Shakhtar Donetsk man looks set to leave on a free transfer this summer, with his contract at Stamford Bridge set to expire in June.

These Spurs fans seem relieved that Willian is reportedly not as close to signing for the Lilywhites as first thought.
What do we think?
Although Willian’s actions in 2013 – when he signed for Chelsea rather than Spurs – certainly haven’t won himself many fans from North London, he has a lot of experience in the Premier League and could be an excellent option in Mourinho’s squad next season, considering he is available for free.
