Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a tweet from the North London club, which confirmed the official restart for the Premier League.
The club’s official Twitter page shared a link to their website, saying: “Premier League Shareholders today agreed to a new provisional restart date for the 2019/20 season of Wednesday 17 June, provided that all safety requirements are in place.”
Top-flight football in England has been suspended since March due to the current viral outbreak, however, it has now been deemed safe enough to return, albeit behind closed doors (per BBC). Jose Mourinho’s side currently occupy eighth position in the Premier League – seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea (per BBC).
Are you happy that football is coming back?

In a purely footballing sense, it seems as if Spurs may well have benefitted from the extended break, as injured players such as Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, and Steven Bergwijn were all confirmed to be back fit and ready for the Premier League’s restart by Jose Mourinho earlier this week.
Outstanding, can’t wait!!!

Spurs’ first game back looks to be against Mourinho’s old side Manchester United, and the Portuguese manager will no doubt be hoping for a reverse of the result from earlier in the season, when a Marcus Rashford brace saw him lose a game as Lilywhites boss for the first time (per BBC).

It seems as if most of these Spurs fans are excited for the Premier League to resume, although a couple of fans did voice their concerns over its imminent return.
As much as I’d love to see spurs back (until the first game is over I imagine), it’s hard to be too excited for this given it may be causing a lot of the players and their families considerable anxiety and stress. Just feels too soon and too reckless. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Football is nothing without fans

Hopefully, we will be able to finish the season safely and without the risk of potentially infecting players, staff and their families. Mourinho’s side will certainly have to finish the season strongly if they are to have a chance of securing a spot in the Champions League next season.
