Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some quotes from Kyle-Walker Peters on how he wants to improve as a footballer.
The right-back, who is currently on loan with Southampton, featured on the TalkSPORT podcast Game Day with Sam Matterface and Alex Crook and talked about improving, saying (via The Spurs Web): “I love Dani Alves. I’ve always had the components to be the modern-day full-back. What I think I need to add to my game is goals. ”
The 23-year-old defender has made just 24 first-team appearances for the Lilywhites during his time with the club, contributing one goal and five assists (per Transfermarkt). However, three of these assists did come in one game, in a 5-0 win against Bournemouth back in December 2018, which perhaps undermines the youngster’s argument that he has ‘a lot of assists‘.

Is he drunk?

Plenty of Spurs fans were quick to comment that the young defender makes no reference at all to his defending ability.
I love Walker Peters but it says a lot that he doesn’t mention anything about defending

Should prob learn how to defend first

The academy graduate has struggled to make much of an impression so far during his time at Southampton, having made just one appearance for the Saints since joining on loan in January.
Always been good going forward, should focus more on the defending side of being a full back tbh

Defend first, develop attacking game second.
No one doubts KWP’s attacking ability, that’s the part we rate. It’s the defending that’s the problem. Someone starts running at him, he panics.

The majority of these Spurs fans seem to rate Walker-Peters’ attacking ability, but suggest that he needs to work on his skills as a defender if he is going to make it as a Lilywhites player.
It was reported by Football Insider back in March that the Englishman may well have played his last game for the North London club, so it seems as if the right-back might have to improve his game elsewhere going forward.
