Liverpool fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest reported news regarding the Merseyside club’s upcoming Premier League fixtures.

This comes after football journalist Matt Lawton shared a post on his official Twitter page that contained a link to a recent report he wrote for The Times along with Martyn Ziegler.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

The report claims that Liverpool “will almost certainly be denied the chance” to win the Premier League title at Anfield when the season resumes in June.

Lawton reveals this is because “the authorities are concerned about 12 ‘high risk’ matches that might lead to fans congregating outside stadiums in breach of social-distancing guidelines.”

The report also added that this has led to the 20 clubs discussing a proposal that would see any Liverpool home game that they could clinch the Premier League title in, and their away matches to Everton and Manchester City, would be played at neutral venues.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were eager to weigh-in on the situation.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:

The current Premier League season is set to resume next month after a temporary suspension that has lasted since March due to the current global pandemic.

As this latest news started to do the rounds on Twitter, it quickly sparked a big reaction from Liverpool fans.

However, there were a couple of Liverpool fans who were not as concerned by the idea of Jurgen Klopp’s side having to play some of their upcoming matches at neutral venues.

It appears that the majority of these Liverpool fans are not pleased by the idea that their club’s fans would not be trusted to adhere to the government’s social-distancing guidelines during some of their matches at Anfield or away at Manchester City or Everton.

It does seem a little unfair that the relevant authorities in question don’t have the faith that Liverpool fans would not congregate and celebrate outdoors after seeing their team win the Premier League title, which seems likely now considering that the Reds are currently 25 points ahead at the top of the league table.

We will have to wait and see what the authorities decide to do and where the upcoming Liverpool fixtures will be held.
